Shikoku Railway Company (JR Shikoku) is one of the seven passenger railway companies of the Japan Railways Group (JR Group), founded in 1987 after the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR). It operates on the island of Shikoku, providing intercity, limited express, and local train services.
Although Shikoku does not have Shinkansen lines, JR Shikoku plays a key role in connecting the island’s cities and supporting regional mobility and tourism.

Limited Express Services – Runs express trains such as Shiokaze, Ishizuchi, Nanpū, and Uzushio.
Tourism Promotion – Operates sightseeing trains like Anpanman Trains and scenic routes around Shikoku.
No Shinkansen Service – Instead, JR Shikoku provides frequent limited express connections to Honshu via bridges.
IC Card System – Uses ICOCA in cooperation with JR West and other regional cards.
Ferry Operations – Historically ran ferries, and still engages in multimodal transport integration.
Regional Support – Focused on serving rural and small-town communities.
