Central Bank of India is one of the oldest and largest public sector banks in India, established in 1911 by Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala, with Sir Pherozeshah Mehta as the first Chairman. It was the first Indian commercial bank to be wholly owned and managed by Indians.
